Cleansing Full Moon Bath Ritual

Full moons are very spiritual and powerful. Our emotions can run deep and it is the perfect time to release what no longer serves us, let go, move forward and expand our journey of growth and healing.

A full moon bath ritual is the perfect way cleanse ourselves physically, emotionally and energetically! As we let the water drain we release everything and create space for new beginnings and new possibilities with a clear energy flow.

Rituals don’t need to take a long time. There is no right or wrong ritual, they should be personalized to what fits you. Make the time for yourself, schedule it in your calendar to ensure you make that space and time for you. This is just one way of enjoying a Cleansing Full Moon Bath Ritual.

Charging your bath water with crystals or stones to manifest your dreams. When using crystals or stones directly into the bath be sure they are able to be directly in water as some crystals dissolve. Moonstone, Selenite, Clear Quartz, Aquamarine and Rose Quartz are powerful crystals to work with on the full moon. You can add salts (for cleansing), herbs, oils, fruits, and flowers to the bath as well.

1. Prepare a full moon bath recipe of herbs or essential oils.

This can be whatever inspires your dreams and relaxes your mind. Below are two of my favorites.

Herbal recipe- In a glass jar or bowl prepare the following:

  • 1 cup of Himalayan sea salt or Epsom Salt

  • Sage

  • Rosemary

  • Mugwort

-Mix the sea salt and herbs together

Essential Oil recipe

  • 1/2 cup of Himalayan Sea Salt or Epsom Salt

  • 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oils

I change them up each ritual, go with what vibes with you that day. Here are a list of some essential oils I like to use and their benefits:

  • Frankincense is helpful for purification, consecration, protection and overcoming fear.

  • Lavender is for relaxation. It is purifying and promotes a wide array of benefits like calm, spiritual love and understanding.

  • Rose is sensual and feminine. It feels like love.

  • Sandalwood: used to calm nerves and help with focus

  • Bergamot: used to reduce stress and improve skin conditions like eczema

  • Rose: used to improve mood and reduce anxiety

  • Chamomile: used to improve mood and relaxation

  • Ylang-Ylang: used to treat headaches, nausea and skin conditions

  • Tea Tree: used to fight infections and boost immunity

  • Jasmine: used to help with depression

  • Lemon: used to aid digestion, mood, headaches

2. Creating your sacred space.

Part of your ritual should include cleaning your bathroom and bathtub to create the ideal space and clearing the energy for your bath. You can use natural cleaning products or you can even make your own with a vinegar and water base or essential oil mix such as lemon and tea tree oil.

After wiping it down, give your bathtub a final rinse with hot water. Have your favorite fluffy, clean towels and clothing to put on afterwards. A soft cozy robe is always nice.

Make your bathroom feel extra sacred by lighting candles, diffusing essential oils or lighting incense. Adding in an element of fire such as candles, Sage or Palo Santo, is a great way to diffuse and release energy during your bath. I usually bring a cool glass of water in case you need to cool off while in the bath.

Clear and smudge your bathroom space with Palo Santo or Sage. Push the smoke into every corner and make sure that your bathtub is very clean.

3. Draw A Healing Bath.

Begin to fill your tub with water using a comfortable temperature for you. Drop in your chosen recipe for the bath as the water runs and visualize the full moon. You can visualize or say what needs to be released or healed or let go as you pour them into the bath.

Adding in dry flowers can make the experience even more luxurious and relaxing. Light the candles or diffuser, incense and put in some soft music. It is actually proven that playing binaural beats can calm anxiety and increase dopamine (feel good) chemicals in your brain.

What are binaural beats? When you hear two tones, one in each ear, which are slightly different in frequency, your brain processes a beat at the difference of the frequencies. Binaural beats are claimed to induce the same mental state associated with a meditation practice, but much more quickly. In effect, binaural beats are said to:

  • reduce anxiety

  • increase focus and concentration

  • lower stress

  • increase relaxation

  • foster positive moods

  • promote creativity

Any type of music will work, find what works for you, this is your ritual.

4. Enjoy the bath.

Settle in the bath, once you are in, ground yourself, connect with your breath taking deep slow breaths, feel relaxed and present and prepare yourself for the full moon. Try and tune into all your senses. Identify the old patterns, pain, or anything that needs to be let go in order for you to move forward.

Full moons tend to energize people or bring plenty of emotions to others. Feel the water on your skin, healing and clearing your body and emotions. As you exhale, let it go! Enjoy the flicker of the candlelight, the sounds in the background.

Connect with the moon, close your eyes and visualize the moonlight. If you have nothing specific to let go or ask for just ask the universe for healing, strength and any messages you need from the full moon. Lay back, relax and take it in. Stay in as long as you like, journal if you like and write down what you are feeling, or want to feel.

5. Exiting the Bath.

When you are ready to come out of the bath give thanks and gratitude to the universe, the divine light, the full moon and any other angels, goddesses you would like to thank. Mindfully bringing your space back to normal and begin to drain the bath.

You can shower to rinse off and visualize the water rinsing away toxins and cleansing your entire body. Be sure to gather any herbs or flowers prior to draining. Rinse with hot water or cleaner to ensure the bathtub is clean and not slippery from the oils.

Wrap yourself with your warm fuzzy robe. Notice how your body feels once you have completed your Full Moon Bath.

Drink plenty of water to ensure hydration and flush away any additional toxins. You can reflect on your experience by writing in your journal or making mental note.

Enjoy!

Wishing you all a beautiful Full Moon Ritual!

Blessed be!
